Piano Keys

Slowly making progress on my scrappy Plan C quilt - all piano keys are cut and have been stitched together in groups ready for pressing before joining the long borders together:

The blocks have been stitched together into rows, and I have started putting the rows together. Those long straight seams are not the most exciting part of the process of making a quilt...

...but I'm looking forward to having it all put together and ready for quilting, so I'll trudge on :-)

Lots of people stitching along and being social with Lorna at SewFreshQuilts. And since I'll be busy stitching on this project for the next few days, I'm also linking up with MyQuiltInfatuation Needle and Thread Thursday :-)

Scrappy Stitching

Been in the mood to play with some happy colours since coming back from vacation. So I pulled a bunch of clear colored scraps, FQs and other bits from my stash and started cutting on Friday afternoon. Loads of flying geese and four patches have come together this weekend.

Back in 2010 I made the small version of Plan C from Carrie Nelsons book Shnibbles Times Two, and ever since I have been itching to make a large one as well. Today I have layed out the pieces, and it's ready to be put together:

The pattern calls for a piano key border... I have cut up most of my leftovers into 2.5" strips and pieces, and I'll see how far they will take me... and how much patience I have stitching small strips together ;-)

Round We Go Again

Today I have three more Round We Go blocks to share. Not sure how happy I am with these three blocks. The contrast isn't too god between the blues used in them, and they look kind of washed out...

This is how nine of the blocks I have made so far look together.

Perhaps they won't look too bad once everything come together...?

Bright Star Quilt

I thought I'd share few pictures of a quilt that was handed off to a dear friend of mine on her 40th birthday in October last year. For some reason I didn't get around to photographing it when I finished it.

As I've been pet watching for a few days, I brought it out into the sunshine to snap a few pics.

Most of the top was pieced at a retreat at LappElisa.

The blocks were made with the Sidekick Ruler by Jaybird Quilts. My friend Lise did the over all popcorn quilting on her longarm machine.

Round We Go Two More Blocks

I'm really enjoying putting together these round blocks. The pieces are quite small, but they are coming together quickly and accurately

These two blocks were quite simple, put together with the bigger pieces in the packs. The "ring" around the center hexagons have been constructed differently, but they came out looking the same ;.)

Blue and Cream Stars Finished

Yey! The binding has been added, and though I have considered adding some more quilting, I have declared the blue and cream stars table topper finished.

This project was started in January and has been worked on every now and then since.

It is made with English paper piecing - the pieces are 144 of the 1 1/4" diamond and 6 of the 1 1/4" triangle . The finished hexagon came out at 9 inches

It has been hand quilted a scant quarter inch outside the blue pieces. It had been a long time since I had hand quilted anything, and now I'm itching to get going on something else ;-)

Round We Go Twice More

Two more blocks of the Round We Go BOM has come together. These are two similar blocks, it's just the fabrics that are different.

Thinking I should make one more where the twister in the center and the outside circle is dark, and the star points are light...

Slow Sunday Stitching

Making a bit more progress on my cream and blue stars table topper. I got the edge attached as my Friday Night with friends, and got it layered. The quilting was started yesterday

This project has been a bit slower to stitch than I had thought, but I'm enjoying every stitch of the way. About 1/3 of the cream section has been quilted. I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to do anything in the blues. Perhaps I'll  get to the binding tonight...

FNwF - Finishing Up Blue and Cream Epp Stars

Back in January I started playing with some small blue and cream six pointed stars that were to go together into a little table topper

Things happened and it got put to the side, but for Friday Night sewing with friends this month I have pulled it back out to sew tonight, and hope to finish it this weekend. So far I have gotten the final couple of small stars attached, have added the setting triangles, and prepped the final diamonds and started adding them to the edge

Not quite made up my mind how I'm going to quilt it, but I won't attempt anything fancy.

Gonna make myself a cup of tea and go blog hopping to all the other friends who participated in this virtual quilting bee

Thank you for hosting it Cheryll (even if you were away - hope you had a great time in Melbourne!).
